97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Blend Door Problem? It blows hot air all the time even with the a/c button on. I took out the glove box to access the blend door and found that when I turned the cold/hot knob the door didn't move. The blower motor is fine and the directionals are fine and the a/c under the hood is ice cold all the way to the firewall. It just never actually gets into the car. Anyone have any tips?

rubendon replied: "the trap door controlls are the problem 1. check and see if something is jamming the door, like a pencil or a old french fry that slid down the vent tube. 2. make sure the door con troll is connected at the door and at the switch. 3. check for a vaccume leak. repair problem and you should be good"

Heater core or blend door? Help me fix my Jeep!? My 1997 Jeep Cherokee isn't making heat. The fan runs fine, but only blows cold air and does not warm up. Fall is here and winter is coming, I need warm air. I've read it could be the heater core that needs flushing. Or it could be the blend door not working properly, which is apparently a Jeep issue. Both of the tubes leading into the heater core are hot, neither is cold, and I think that one cold tube is a symptom of heater core issues. I need to fix this easily and cheaply, and hopefully by myself. I paid $1700 for the Jeep and it's cost me $5000 in repairs already. It's not worth another repair and days labor. PLEASE, I need advice and directions, but I am NOT a mechanic, I'm a girl with no experience with these things, so speak to me in simple, layman's terms! Thanks!!!!

jayt replied: "sounds like your blend door, if its vacuum activated better see if you have a break in the line. if it doesnt have vacuum it wont close/open"

The heater in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee blows cold air on the driver side only? The heater in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee blows cold air on the driver side only (warm air blows on passenger side). The shop wants to remove the heater housing and inspect the blend door. This alone will be $300 in labor, and any repairs/parts will be on top of this. Does this sound reasonable? The heater in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee blows cold air on the driver side only (warm air blows on passenger side). The shop wants to remove the heater housing and inspect the blend door. This alone will be $300 in labor, and any repairs/parts will be on top of this. Does this course of action, and the price, sound reasonable? Ok, first time using this site. Tried to edit to ask: I'm trying to determine if the recommended course of action sounds reasonable. (from the first couple if answers the price for their suggested course of action sounds reasonable, thank you). In other words, the best way to try to fix this problem is to remove the heater housing, a 4+ hour job?

TripleXXXrated replied: "Yeah that sounds about right. They are going to have to remove the entire dash and take it from me that aint no easy task. Shouldnt cost much more for the fix. There is a little motor in there that controls that door and once you have removed the dash all you will really have to pay for is the part. Which shouldnt be more than about 50 dollars or so. Hope that helps. Good Luck!!!"

dodge man replied: "yes it actually does sound fairly reasonable to do for that price,,because that's a lot of work on that vehicle,i have done them before, and there hard to do and take a lot of time also, but that price should include the parts if its only the vacuum motor that needs to be replaced on it,,but the price isn't that far off,,good luck,i hope this help,s."

I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee blowing cold air when heat is on.? I have already replaced blend doors and thermostat and it is still blowing cold air. any idea?

ricardo9505 replied: "not sure what "blend door" is but I think the heater core may be shot. On a jeep, figure $40 parts, $80 labor"

mikie replied: "Check your controls. Start with the temperature Control knob, them check the vacuum hoses that runs to the heater box. The doors open on vacuum. Hope this helps. Good luck"

Air conditioning doesn't blow cold air? 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a full charge of 134a, the compressor cycles on/off like it normally should, but it blows out air that is the temperature of the engine compartment. I ran a diagnostic check that is built in to the Jeep, it said error 38 and 52. That corresponds to "Blend Air Door Feedback Circuit" and "Blend Air Door Actuator Drive Circuit" according to the Haynes Manual. I can't find any reference to the Blend Air Door or where it's located. What should I do next?

goldwing127959 replied: "The blend door is the door that opens and lets the cold air in. It is located under the dash and is in most cases opens by a small motor or a vacuum actuator. It is by the pass side and opens this door."
