Questions and Answers
how do I find model of LT230 suzuki with motor number? I have a LT230 Suzuki quad but don't know the year. Motor number is J411-103723. Thought someone could tell me what site to go to or had a manual and could tell me.

bob a replied: "olny the dealer can give you the year by VIN"

G B replied: "I worked for Suzuki dealership back in the eighties, if memory serves: 1985 LT230S, chain drive, kickstart, manual clutch, red fenders, black seat. 1986 blue seat, 1987 or 88 went to white fenders. Also from 86 to 88? they had a LT230G with electric and pull start, auto clutch. Also from 85 to 88 they had a LTF-230G which was a big utility quad with a dual range shaft drive. Hope this info helps."

How do I remove stuck front wheel bearings on a Suzuki LT230 s? How do I remove the front wheel bearings on a Suzuki LT230S if they are stuck

Bob A replied: "You want the ATV section, this is for bicycles."

Travis replied: "This is the wrong place but you would have to take the wheels off first. Then you would have to take off the brake pad assembly and then the rotor if it has them. Then there should be a cover over the bearings which you have to take off. I'm not exactly sure how on that model but it shouldn't be hard. Depending on the setup inside the bearing housing, you might need to disconnect the steering arm to get to the second bearing. Again, I'm really not exactly sure this is how you do it for this model but most ATV bearing housings are the same."

Peter Griffin replied: "Does Suzuki make bicycles? Didn't think so. You're in the wrong place, pal."

My swing arm on my 1991 suzuki lt230 quadrunner bearing holder is bent? Iv had this bike for a year and decided to put the bearings and bushings in it but they wont fit it looks like the holer is bent. What could i do,should i buy a new swingarm.

rockbase replied: "if you want it done right and safe...yes, but first make sure you have the right bearings."

how do i change the gearing in my 1985 suzuki LT230 to make it go faster? or is there anyother way to make it go faster?

SWT replied: "the easiest way is to re gear it. The easiest way to do this is to change out the front sprocket.... drop a tooth for more low end, raise it for more top end. If you do decide to change out the rear sprocket, add 2 or take away 2 teeth at a time, until you reach your desired powerband. remember that if you add teeth, the more torque and less top speed you will have...."

auburn replied: "Change to one tooth up in the front sprocket or go down one or two teeth on the rear this will make the bike faster but less powerful. But gearing a bike up for speed is a trade off for power. Because sometimes it is faster going around the track it is faster if the bike is geared down for better cornering which can be faster in the long run. But if the track is not a fast track you need to gear the bike the other way which is down to keep the power closer together."

for gearing a 1985 suzuki lt230 do i just change the engine sprocket to a sprocket with more or less teeth? and were can i get one?

slipstream replied: "it all depend,s on what your looking for.........quicker off the line......you would want a smaller sprocket.......for higher top end speed you would choose a larger sprocket......sprocket,s are available at your local dealer or high performance speed shop......good luck!"

mxlj replied: "smaller up front for more power accel, less top speed. larger spriocket up front for more top speed less, accel. and it is the opposite for the rear sprocket. check with bikebandit.com or local dealer many suzuki quads used the same front sprockets. shoudnt be hard to find."

I have a suzuki lt230 quad 86'87' two questions one set top dead center piston and cam how does it go ? i'm looking how to wire/ rewire and how to set the piston and cam so i can fire it off. getting a manuel for it , eh I wanted to try the net and see how far ican go to rebuild this quad...

wzzrd replied: "Best advice I can offer is get the repair manual. TDC you can find w/ a screwdriver in the plug hole and slowly turn the motor over by hand. I would imaging the timing gears/sprockets have marks on them for alignment. The wiring is a lot more involved. That's where the manual will be worth the money not to mention other problems you may have in the future."

Suzuki LT230 Cylinder head torque? Anyone know the spec on the cylinder head torque for a 1987 Suzuki lt230 quadsport.
