Can Someone Please Help Me With My Mitsubishi Eclipse? I just recently got a 96 Eclipse Rs and the guy I bought it from told me he could not get it started so when I got it I tried to figure out and this is becoming a hassle. The car will turn over and I replaced the camshaft sensor and it still wont start so I hooked it up to a scanner and it read out a code of p1655 does anyone know what this code means and how to fix it? It tries to start. I can tell it is wanting to start because the car starts to move a little bit or I should say rocks forward a bit. And it has only 76,000 miles on it. Also It is getting no spark It is a brand new coil pack I just bought it

Scot D replied: "The P1655 is for your EVAP purge solenoid - most likely not your problem. Your RS has the 16V Chrysler-built engine, and is usually pretty stout. Can you describe what is happening when you say it won't start? I know it cranks over, but does it try to start? How many miles are on it? Are you sure you have fuel pressure? Try replacing the fuel pump solenoid ( I think you can use the horn solenoid to do a quick swap). LOL - edit starts here: No Spark! I'd say that is a problem! You need three basic things to run: Air, Fuel And Spark. If you are getting NO spark (how did you verify this?) start by checking all of your fuses to make sure your coils have power. It could be as simple as a blown fuse."

mrboxx replied: "Check to see if the coil pack is getting juice. If not, it's possible that has failed. Since the 420a only uses one coil pack for all four plug wires, if that goes out, then you'll have no spark at all."

Jase replied: "its a eclipse n u shouldnt have waisted ur money on it cuz there engines break down in ur case u bought it with a messed up engine bout the code idk n couldnt tell u SELL IT"

boxer replied: "really not"

where the ECM located on a mitsubishi eclipse RS 2001? my car wont start, i changed the spark plugs, the ignition coils, the camshaft sensor and the problem's still there, a friend of mine told me that the ECM if prob. messed up, does any1 know wheres is @ and do u guys think thats the issue? i'd appreciate any feedback

thebax2006 replied: "Quit guessing. You'll end up replacing the whole car piece by piece. The ECU in the 1995 and newer models does not fail like the 1st Gens. If you have spark and there is no ses light or codes you probably have a fuel pump problem. By now you already have spent more than it would have cost for the diagnosis at a Mits dealer and would have it fixed already!"

scontreras86 replied: "those cars have so many problems, i had a mitsubishi to and it was nothing but problems, off the top of my head i dont know what the code is, but all i know is that no matter what the code is, it is still not the Key to fixing that car.... I would get rid of it and try another car.. if not good luck"

thebax2006 replied: "P1655 is for the purge control solenoid. The emission system self monitor system in your vehickle has a vacuum pump to test for leaks in the OBD II emission system. It's located in the right front under the fender. You will need the complete unit, don't try to replace individual parts, it never works. This is not the reason the car won't start. Have the car scanned for codes so you don't keep throwing parts at it. Pull the spark plug wires and look for oil around the spark plugs. If wet you will need to replace the valve cover gasket and the 4 plug tower seals inside the valve cover. Replace the plugs and the swollen oil soaked wires."

1995 mitsubishi 2.0 non turbo No start problem???? I posted yesterday and hoprfuly the guy who gave me some very good advice will see this. So to all the techs out there here is my problem. The car stopped running. I have vo voltage to my crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor. No spark and no injector fire. All has been checked. No reference voltage from computer to these sensors. I checked it from the ecm itself. And the big one is my check engine light will not work. i hooked my actron obd 2 scanner up and it will not comunicate with the motor. Bad PCM right? Please no guesses. I was a smog tech bach in the late 90's and am pretty good with cars but i also would like opinions from Techs that specialize in mitsubishi because unlike most mechanics i will admit that a specialty mechanic no's a hell of alot more than a general mechanic!!! Points for good opinion. To chris R. Are you saying you arte as good as a mechanic from A mitsubishi dealership? Sorry buddy but you are wrong. Like myself. I was a mechanic professionally for 12 years and have worked on cars since i was 5. The difference is a specialty mechanic could figure out the problem in 1 hr and it would take you 3 or 4 hours and me a couple days!!! I changed professions in 1999 and am a bit slow but hey i save myself thousands of dollars. Just need a little extra info from time to time.

Chris R replied: "well, you are not really correct about your statement about specialty mechanics. specialty mechanics are more familiar with specific problems to the specific car they work on but, a good mechanic understands the way a car truly works and can fix any car as I can. about your car. if you have proper voltage and I do mean proper voltage to your computer and you have good grounds and you dont have proper voltage coming out of it, the computer is bad."

Xavier T replied: "no power whatsoever? perhaps bad wires leading to the distributor? bad ground, bad battery, have you done anything to the car that may have lead to this problem?"

Rich replied: "gave ya the test for pcm in the other answer!"

Brad G replied: "Check the fuse for the cigarette lighter (not kidding) it also supplies power to the ecm self diagnostic circuit and the data link connector! AND make sure that the underhood fuse block does not have a buch of corrosion in the wires on the underside of the fuse panel in it And make sure that BOTH power wires are hooked to the battery positive terminal"

I checked this at the computer and it is getting 13.5 volts

BFH replied: "You are going to have to do a voltage pinout check to know anything for sure. The computers commonly fail on those but so does the MPI relay. If you have the proper voltages coming into the computer you can determine that the computer is bad. Otherwise you would only be guessing."

Rich replied: "yeah, pcm is toast! if your scanner read it and there is no 5 volts sense then its time for another one. terminals 13 and 26 are ground. Leave computer plugged in and check those two wires with the ohm meter to see if they are grounded. 13 and 26 are both black. Terminals 12 and 25 are your 12 volt wires. key on and they should be hot. 12 and 25 are both red wires going into the pcm So if those 12 and 25 show hot and 13 and 26 show continuity to ground. then the pcm is bad. fuse number 7 is the pcm fuse. but you said it had power so I know you looked at that. my bad flag troll will be by shortly to give me my bad flag :)"
