honda hornet 900 excessive bluing on 1 exhaust pipe? this bike was bought new in june 2009 and has 3200kms (2000 miles) local dealer says no problems and no fix available any clues please

Adam replied: "well some bluing over time is normal, excessive bluing would indicate a lean condition on that cylinder."

So-Crates Resurrected AGAIN replied: "Sounds like that particular cylinder is running hot, possibly due to lean jetting... Some bluing is normal, but if it is only on ONE of the four headers, them something is wrong... could also be a really thin header pipe on that cylinder..."

mike p replied: "You may have one cylinder running lean. Try running some gas additive called SeaFoam. Mix 1oz per gallon of gas. Lot of problems now a days with pump gas that has ethynol. Ethynol evaporates faster than regular gas, thus leaving gunk in fuel system.SeaFoam is great for cleaning fuel system, and carbs."
