What Happens To My Chrysler Warranty Facts in Answers
What happens to my Dodge warranty now that Chrysler went bankrupt? I just bought a slightly used 08 Dodge Caliber and it still has the factory warranty. What happens to it now? Is it still good?

ken k replied: "see obama he will take care of it"

Patrick replied: "Your warranty is still good. The federal government has backed up Chrysler's warranty's."

Uncle Jed replied: "Chrysler is going into bankruptcy reorganization. They are not going out of business. When they get done Fiat will be a major owner of Chrysler. All warranty's will be backed by federal government so they will remain intact. If the company defaults but there not. Gmac finance is taking control of the finance portion of Chrysler so they can finance cars ..This was on the news ths morning .................md"

George W. Bush-Real Man replied: "Your warranty will still be in effect because Chrysler is not closing down, it is filing for chapter 11 bankrupcy. You will still have dealers to visit for warranty work, so your warranty will be the same"

Scott replied: "I just bought a new 2009 retro Dodge Challenger 4 weeks ago and it came with a 'Lifetime Warranty'. I wonder if the Federal Government will warranty my Challenger 'for life'?"

Dan W replied: "Many companies go bankrupt and continue to function, they are not closing their doors so until they do assume everything is OK. But don't put off repairs under warranty."

Lemonaid for Norman Taylor replied: "Your warranty may still be in effect. You should contact the manufacturer in writing directly to see what they say, request a response in writing. If it's slightly used, you may have a dealers warranty check your Buyer's Guide. Some dealers also issue a warranty that you don't have to pay for- not an extended warranty or service contract, but a dealers warranty where they distinguish on the Buyer's Guide which components are covered and what percentage of parts and labor they will pay."

What happens when you turn in a leased chrysler with a voided warranty? Our 2006 Towne and country developed a knock in the engine. We did not have enough proof in writing of maintenance, so the dealer voided the warranty. We had the car fixed at an engine shop, not the dealer. We have to turn the car in next month and wonder what will happen now that the warranty was voided, even though the problem has been corrected. Also, the warranty would now have expired anyway, as we are over the mileage of the original warranty. What happens now?

Mark B replied: "Since the problem is fixed, there should be no problem. When you turn it in, they will check it over to make sure everything is in working order, so you should be fine since it's been fixed and everything is in working order. I wouldn't even mention anything about the motor having been repaired/replaced unless they ask you about it."

shaggy1353 replied: "nothing....if u release another Chrysler..but if u don't.....look at the paperwork u signed when u leased the van...it spells out what you will be billed for at the termination of the lease.......but if u lease another car they will and can overlook things...read your agreement"

What happens to my lifetime warranty if Chrysler falls? Will it be honored anywhere else or did I just got the big old screw you when and if the company falls

Wayner replied: "Lifetime - yours, the cars, or the company's. Another company may choose to honor it, but they don't have to."

PhoneSeek replied: "Big Old Rusty Screw That Can Not Be Pulled Out sorry mate"

shortmama7j replied: "This is not the first time american auto makers have been in a crisis and it wont be the last."

If Chrysler goes down, what will happen to my car warranty? I asked a guy at the dealership - and boy they're empty right now, I mean almost no customers! - and he said it will be taken over by the government. Well, wording "by the government" is sort of ambiguous for me plus there's no guarantee the gov't will want to take this mess over. So, who knows what? Appreciate any wisdom on it.

DailyDeath replied: "transfer to Chevy cuz Chevy makes Chrysler."

C7S replied: "Nothing. The Warranty is an agreement. A Contract. In this article, they talk about how you will still have warranties and places to fix your cars."

Gene R. Z replied: "If it appears that Chrysler will be forced, by lack of operating capital, to shutter its plants and offices, Chrysler will likely act to voluntarily enter a bankruptcy proceeding in order to provide an orderly way of winding things up. However, if it didn't timely act to do so, any creditor may force it into bankruptcy. The benefit to the creditors of such a course of action is that it would provide one forum to litigate the many competing claims. Once Chrysler is in bankruptcy, secured creditors (mortgage holders and others) would have first claim on its assets (in order of priority, usually meaning chronological order). Unsecured creditors, such as warranty holders and most suppliers, would be last, and the likelihood that there would be any assets left to compensate such is almost nil. It could be that the government would step in to provide compensation to warranty holders, but if Chrysler were to enter a bankruptcy proceeding, the government would likely have concerns much bigger than compensating Chrysler warranty holders."

Chrysler Lifetime Drivetrain Warranty? Good idea or act of desparation for a failing company? Now that Chrysler is a private company, what is going to happen to them and there cars?

Michael M replied: "great idea and cars are not bad mc"

dodge man replied: "Chrysler is not going to go under,as we all know the government will keep them going if necessary.but their not as bad off as people think they are,the life time warranty,is a great idea,if their willing to stand behind their products this good, then they,ll make it in business, one thing people have to realize ,Chrysler has been around for a long time, and they,ll be around a lot longer also, they,ll do fine, good luck."

Hassan Q replied: "It's more an act of desperation because most people feel that such a large automotive icon doesn't need to comply with certain government regulations.....it's kind of a scary thought. i know it scared me. i like the Chrysler 300c and all, but now I'm second guessing my likes now."

sillylance replied: "It's a great idea it will make people have a chrysler on their next vehicle shopping list , it would make me wanna buy a jeep or chrysler if i could afford one at the moment."

Dan C replied: "The auto industry will exist as long as dodge chrysler plymouth exists. Gm, maybe not anything outside of caddy and the vette. Ford lincoln mercury, yes. Americas cars are kick butt. Itallian and American cars are the standard level of performance and R&D for the world. Vette, AcC Cobra; Ferrari, Lamborghini. I know the times are the times but British/ English cars almost allways had problems. They still rate kinda the same. Aisias cars were weakly powered and hard to get parts for back then and still may be in the future. Germanies volks really set the economic standard and there level of performance and R&D today rivals american/italian standards. Were not goin anywhere. And if were over there and there over here. It's still because of us. Even your old Airstream A/C units were dodge. Tanks and Jeeps. Jet turbine cars! Dodge my friend. They can back and satisfy there claims. It will be a long time and a different world before that happens. When life getts rough, I think of the muscle car. And dealing with the odds. Ford made a HEMI too. I wonder how Ferrari and Lambo heads were configured in those days. And there still the baddest. That you can own. So, They own a part of the industry that will preserve there existance. Thank You."

DeadSurvivor replied: "I think the Chrysler and their labels will be around for awhile. I like the idea of a Lifetime DriveTrain Warranty but I think it will cost them a pretty dime."

Firebird replied: "It's a good idea. In fact, it's a great idea. Let's just say they'll have to overhaul 5% of their transmissions for free 10 years from now. It's really not that expensive. I think the danger of it is if they try to weasel out of it later, they'll make a bunch more enemies. That'll be worse than spending the money."

2n1 replied: "I hate to compare Chrysler to hyundai but improved warrenty helped keep hyundai a float while they were improving their product line from the undependable garbage it was to now being one of the best rated.I believe Chryslers current product line is way better than what hyundai had but it still could use some help especially in the materials they use in the passenger compartment.I believe the lifetime warrenty will help to wean them off of giving insentives which in the end will make them money despite the cost of the warrenty. Also the warrenty only applies to the original owner and many people trade their cars in before problems occur anyways."

What Happens to a Car's Warranty If a Company Goes Bankrupt? We're worried. We just bought a brand new Dodge Journey and it's set to arrive in our country of residence sometime in June. Today on the news we here that Chrysler might be going bankrupt or is swimming towards those deep waters. Thank you. Ew. I hate making spelling errors. it should be 'hear' not 'here.'

jvclassic replied: "There's bankrupt and there's Bankrupt. Chances are Chrysler will continue in some way and honor their warranties. Their creditors will take some losses and may be paid in Chrysler stock. That's further proof that they will survive. I hope you financed it and didn't pay cash in advance. Delays may happen. Kill deal if possible without big losses."
